AND WHEN I LOVE YOU …
I’ll pledge you everything
All of what and who I am
The strength and courage of my spirit flying free
captured and claimed, your loving slave eternally
the wholesome, truesome love that never once belonged
to anyone
but you
Did there ever exist words to say that I will be
saving all of me for you
then hear me tell you
those words hold true
Understanding will be our life
and love will be like a piercing beacon
shining through the murky shadows of strife
and I am yours to command
faithfully, truly, completely
just tell me
You love me too
And whisper how much you care
and tell me you’ll always be there
and smile at me when I should be so blue
because, my love, the sunshine of my life is you
and touch me in times of insecurity
and my love will know no bound, will be as immeasurable
as the deepest, darkest sea
and please, don’t ever tire of us, my love
let us see each other grow old through the tender eyes of love
be friends, lovers, husband and wife
and lead, with God’s blessing, a truly fulfilling married life
and our children will grow up with us and see
the tenderness and love that exists between you and me
and when the world turns to ask us why
we’ll look into each other’s eyes
and
perhaps I’ll cry …
have we not pledge to love each other deeply until we die?
